Bermuda even the series in Victoria

On Monday, the Bermudian women's team bounced back to even the series with Canada at a game each. The series, the winner of which goes to the final World Cup qualifiers, will be decided on Friday September 8th in Victoria when the third and final one-day match is played.

Bermuda won the toss and chose to bat first. It looked for a while like a disastrous choice as Canada's bowlers came out like gangbusters. Bermuda was reeling at 41-6 and it was looking like an early day for the home side. But opener Britney Marshall was stubborn and would not go down. She marshalled the tail masterfully and added an unbeaten 86 runs in taking Bermuda to 159 all out in 41 overs. Not a great total, but one which could be defended by the visitors.

Canada's innings also started poorly and, though I wasn't there, I assume it was a bowler's pitch. After 32 overs Canada were 75-6. From there it was an uphill battle to get to the target. Wickets continued to fall and the last one was a simple run out. Canada finished 135 all out from 45.4 overs. Reuna Richardson led the bowlers taking 3 wickets for 24 runs. Chevonne Furbert and Terry-Lynn Paynter each contributed 2-19.

So it all comes down to the 3rd match on Friday. Hopefully it is a good one, and hopefully more information is available. The reason I have more information about Bermuda's batting and bowling is because that is all Islandstats publishes. Again, if anyone is around Victoria and could somehow get scores and information to me, it would be much appreciated.
